Piscifun Vs KastKing: Bargain Fishing Tackle Faceoff

Most anglers today have heard of Piscifun and KastKing. These small companies are quickly becoming well known for providing high quality, affordable rods, reels, and accessories.

Piscifun vs KastKing Comparison

Piscifun and KastKing are two relatively new companies in the angling industry. Each offers a variety of high quality, low priced gear since not all fishermen can afford top of the line equipment. The two companies were founded on a similar premise- to make fishing fun and affordable no matter what the fishing situation. Today, we will compare the two product lines to see which one delivers the best  quality and variety of products. We will also examine reviews from actual customers to see how satisfied they are with their merchandise choices.

Piscifun: what’s their story

Piscifun was born in 2013 when two best friends and fishing buddies decided they could sell high-quality products to anglers for a fraction of what the big brands were charging. The goal of the company is to make fishing fun for the family, and that is literally what Piscifun translates to mean. Co-owners Ben and Peter came into the company with plenty of experience. Ben owns a manufacturing company that provides products for the most well-known, longtime brands. Peter is a worldwide professional angler who travels the globe finding out what people like and don’t like in fishing gear. The company’s focus is to make products that have the quality of the big brands, but are affordable for everybody. The company’s factory is in Beijing, China.

KastKing: what’s their story

Kastking started in 2011 when a few college friends attending Syracuse University in the MBA degree program decided to open a business. They decided to focus on what they loved to do- fishing. They had the business knowledge, the tech knowledge, and a great understanding of e-commerce. Together they built a company that sold products directly to consumers through internet sales. The company is built on several cornerstones: high-quality products, affordable prices, sold directly to consumers through e-commerce, outsourced components at the lowest possible rates.

Spinning Rods

piscifun vs Kastking image
The Piscifun Flame spinning rod is a cheap and solid choice

Piscifun and KastKing both manufacture several models of spinning rods from beginner level to professional level. Both companies incorporate high-quality, carbon or graphite blanks, stainless steel guides, and comfortable EVA grips. The price points are similar for both companies. KastKing has more favorable reviews than Piscifun, but they have been in business longer and sell to a worldwide audience. Piscifun only sells to North American buyers. The rod quality and availability seem fairly matched between the two companies.
